Special Gift & Godly Grit

Max had a terrific appointment on Tues. Sutures are out and the valve is working great. Still needs a few more weeks for his sternum to fully heal. April 4th is Max’s go date – back to full activity!

When we arrived home from his appointment, a special gift was waiting for Max. An autographed bat from Dodgers Justin Turner “Max, keep inspiring! Stay Strong!” It was a beautiful surprise to an already blessed day. Max was speechless!

Another special gift was a sermon that Max’s story was incorporated into. Tom Haugen is the Chaplain at Gordon College. On the morning of Max’s surgery, he was delivering an incredible sermon on Godly Grit. Tom is married to my childhood best friend. This sermon meant the world to us and defines Max perfectly.

Max is entering the zone of recovery where he feels great, but has to wait. Not easy for an athlete, but he has certainly learned over the years that it’s better to just get it right the first time. Give your body the space and time it needs to heal.

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
